Iran’s HR chief’s meeting with NAM members in frames

Secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights met and talked with members of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to explain a number of ambiguities on human rights issues in Iran as well as to describe HR achievements of the country.

Dr. Mohammad Javad Larijani joined a gathering of NAM representatives at their invitation and outlined the stance taken and ideological principles followed by the Islamic Republic of Iran towards human rights issues. The meeting was held on Wednesday evening on the sidelines of the 37th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

 

Larijani, who is also an advisor to Iran's Judiciary head on international affairs, pointed out that several grounds existed for human rights activities adding "one arena pertains to human rights achievements in reviewing and improving the relevant law in legal entities."

The official stressed that attention to ideological principles in the field of human rights in various countries can bring about a breakthrough in the area.

He also explained some of the ambiguities raised by other countries on the podium of the Human Rights Council session regarding Ira's human rights.
