Judicial and legal cooperation to be improved between Iran and Nigeria

Judicial and legal cooperation to be improved between Iran and Nigeria
IRAN  - During the meeting between the two countries’ officials, the development of bilateral judicial cooperation, combating the exploitation of human rights, the necessity to apply both countries’ close views on human rights and using them in other areas such as sports and economy were of the important subjects discussed.

The deputy of international relations to the High Council for Human Rights, Majid Tafreshi met with Mustafa Mokila, the Chief of Nigeria's Mission to the UN in Geneva today.

Mentioning the Nigerian president's trip made to Tehran a few years ago, Mr.Mokila said that the issue of the political resolution against Iran will be discussed with Nigeria's ministries of foreign affairs and justice and Nigeria's response to the supporters of the mentioned resolution will not be positive.

It is worth mentioning that almost half of the member countries at the Human Rights Council including Nigeria, in spite of being pressured by western countries, did not support the mentioned resolution and abstained.

According to the international customs, when the total number of abstentions and votes against a resolution go higher than the votes for the resolution, the mentioned resolution would be considered a political one like the resolution against Iran, which was proposed by Sweden and backed up mostly by western countries. In fact, Sweden has caused much pain for Iranian epidermolysis bullosa patients and even has caused deaths in some cases as, due to the inhumane US sanctions, it stopped delivering Mepilex dressings which are trusted around the world to treat a wide range of chronic and acute wounds, including in EB patients.
