Bagheri-Kani urged HR bodies to investigate assassination of General Soleimani

Bagheri-Kani urged HR bodies to investigate assassination of General Soleimani
IRAN  - The Secretary of High Council for Human Rights Ali Baqeri-Kani held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Human Rights Council Elisabeth Tichy-Fisslberger in Geneva late on Wednesday, discussing the assassination of General Ghasem Soleimani.

Stressing that General Soleimani was a hero to Iranians, Bagheri-Kani called "the brave commander of Quds forces" as "the greatest human rights defender in the region".

"All human rights bodies should be among the first to avenge the assassination of Lieutenant General Soleimani and not give up on the US for this crime."

General Soleimani was reportedly carrying an Iranian response to a Saudi peace overture when he was assassinated in a US drone attack on the orders of President Donald Trump.

Baqeri-Kani slammed US oppressive sanctions against the Iranian nation, saying that the international world human rights entities should not legitimize US this anti-human crime by being silent against the sanctions.

Showing some photos of the Iranian victims of Iraq's chemical attacks, he criticized the European countries who supplied chemical weapons to Iraq for claiming to be human rights defenders and drafting anti-Iran resolutions.

Tichy-Fisslberger, for her part, said that communication among UN member states was the main objective that led to the creation of Human Rights Council.
