Iran stresses Women's economic role during sanctions
IRAN  - Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar blasted the US for creating many obstacles to block Iran’s economic development, and said that the government is working to promote the role of Iranian women in trade field.


Ebtekar made the remarks during a meeting with the head of the parliamentary committee on women's affairs and members of the committee during her two-day visit to Thailand on Friday.

During the meeting, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs pointed to the Islamic Republic of Iran's actions in the field of women, and said that the allocation of a 30 percent quota for the appointment of women managers and the participation of women in higher education in Iran were among the measures.

According to Iran's Statistics Center, 56 percent of students in the country's public universities are women while 27 percent of university faculty members and 37 percent of Iran's medical community are women.
