Iran to present third national report in Human Rights Council

Iran to present third national report in Human Rights Council
IRAN  - The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves a periodic review of the human rights records of all 193 UN Member States. The UPR is a significant innovation of the Human Rights Council which is based on equal treatment for all countries.

It was established when the Human Rights Council was created on 15 March 2006 by the UN General Assembly's resolution 60/251. This mandated the Council to "undertake a universal periodic review, based on objective and reliable information of the fulfillment by each State of its human rights obligations and commitments in a manner which ensures universality of coverage and equal treatment with respect to all States"

This mechanism is a legal mean for the countries to present their human rights achievements, promotional measures and their reports on following up and executing accepted recommendations offered by other countries every four and a half years.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has presented and defended its national reports twice in 2010 and 2014. It is worth mentioning that based on a pre-determined schedule Iran is going to present its third report at the UN headquarter in Geneva on November 8, 2019.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's report has been already uploaded on the UNHCHR's website so that academics, commentators and students could have access to it.

High Council for Human Rights welcome all feedback, suggestions and criticism.
