Australia Frees Iranian Student Reza Dehbashi

Australia Frees Iranian Student Reza Dehbashi
IRAN  - Australia released Reza Dehbashi, an Iranian research student of the University of Queensland (UQ) who had been accused of exporting American equipment with military application to Iran.

Reza Dehbashi Kivi, 39, had long been fighting to avoid extradition to the US, after American authorities accused him of exporting military equipment for detecting stealth planes or missiles to Iran.

Dehbashi has been liberated after being held in Australia for 13 months and has now returned to Iran, Fars News Agency reported Saturday.

Lawyers for the US government had applied for the Iranian PhD student's extradition for allegedly conspiring to export "defense articles designated under the US munitions list" for the Islamic Republic, according to ABC News.
