Palestinian woman killed at major checkpoint near Jerusalem

Palestinian woman killed at major checkpoint near Jerusalem
World  - Israeli forces on Wednesday shot and killed a Palestinian woman at the Qalandiya military checkpoint, located to the North of Jerusalem.

Israeli forces deployed at the checkpoint opened fire at the girl who got confused and took the wrong lane, wounding her when she posed no threat, according to WAFA.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed later that the 50-year-old woman, who remained unidentified, succumbed to her wounds.

The version offered by Israeli media is that the girl was sot for purportedly attempting to soldiers. No injuries were reported though among soldiers.

Soldiers attacked Palestinians attempting to cross the checkpoint with pepper spray and closed down the checkpoint in both directions.

Many Palestinians were injured or killed in similar incidents under the pretext of alleged stabbing attempts.

Israeli has been criticized for its reflexive use of lethal force and "extrajudicial killings" when Palestinian alleged attackers no longer pose an immediate threat.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that circumstances surrounding such killings over the past months remain disputed.

Various international, Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations have slammed Israel's policy of "extrajudicial killings" against Palestinians.

Video footages for similar alleged attacks appear to disapprove Israeli military claims, showing alleged Palestinian attackers did not even attempt to carry out any attacks. Some footages showed Israeli forces manipulating the crime scene following such killings.
