More than 1000 inmates of unintentional crimes freed last year; official
IRAN  - More than 1000 inmates convicted of unintentional crimes were released last year according to the Iranian officials.

"Considering the great efforts made by charity donors and Tehran's Compensation Department, 1008 inmates convicted of unintentional crimes were released last year"; the head of the Compensation Department, Manoochehr Rahmani told local news agencies on Sunday.

"Also, 505 inmates including 485 men and 50 women convicted of unintentional crimes have been set free since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2018)."

One of the inmates, jailed due to his unpaid debt to his landlord, was released by the financial donation by a student before his death in the recent bus accident that occurred at the Islamic Azad University in Tehran.

"Actually, he had donated all his savings to help the needy inmate pay his debt. Undoubtedly, people like the late Sajad Poorehsan are role models for others", Rahmani added.
