Tehran objects to violation of UNHRC law in Iran discussion

Tehran objects to violation of UNHRC law in Iran discussion
IRAN  - Iran objected to the violation of UNHRC laws in the Human Rights Council’s Monday meeting on the report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, the late Asma Jahangir.

Mohammad Javad Larijani objected to the Chair of the Coordination Committee of Special Procedures at the beginning of his speech, as Devandas Aguilar failed to observe the rule of limiting her introduction to the resume of the report of late Asma Jahangir.

"I have an objection to the resume presented here because the lady did not enjoy the mandate to pass any recommendations; She should only give a resume of what late Ms. Jahangair said" he stressed.

Presenting the report in the name of Ms. Jahangir, Catalina Devandas Aguilar as the Chair of the Coordination Committee of Special Procedures started her introduction saying that Iran should implement the UN recommendations.

She went further to urge the Government of Iran to extend its full cooperation by allowing visits in the country and called on Tehran to take all necessary measures to put an end to what she claimed to be "acts of intimidations against those cooperating with the United Nations."

Mohammad Javad Larijani, Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights of Iran, objected to the method of collecting and assessing the allegations concerning the human rights situation in Iran. He noted that the United Nations and the Human Rights Council should decide whether to condone and tolerate the shameful selective human rights position.

"Those sitting in Washington or in Europe had committed enormous atrocities in Yemen and other places, but at the same time they considered themselves leaders in human rights. Why were Western liberal values the only way to live? Human rights should rely on the honest to God dignity of man, and not on the model dictated in Washington, Europe and other places," Mr. Larijani stressed.
