Iran condemns Saudi airstrikes on Yemen civilians
IRAN  - Saudi Arabia's anti-humanitarian moves in Yemen are the sign of its failure in achieving the goals it pursues by aggressions on the Arab country, the spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

"Escalation of the air raids against residential areas, continuance of the ground, aerial and maritime siege, and blocking humanitarian aids and requirements for every-day life by Saudi Arabia shows Riyadh's failure in reaching its goals from invading Yemen."

Condemning Saudi Arabia's recent air raids on residential areas in the Yemeni city of Hajjah that has left scores of civilians dead and injured, he expressed sympathy with the families of victims.

A military intervention in Yemen was launched in 2015 by Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a number of other Arab states. The bombings have claimed lives of thousands of Yemeni civilians, including hundreds of children.

"Such moves are clear violation of humanitarian principles and laws," the spokesman said and urged the United Nations and players influential in the Yemeni crisis to step up their efforts t stop the raids immediately and take necessary, immediate and effective measures for protecting life and security of the civilians, especially women and children.

Qasemi also criticized the international community's silence in facing such aggressions.
