- Over 828 kilograms of all types of illicit drugs were confiscated in Fars province over the past 24 hours, commander of provincial police said on Saturday.
Brigadier-General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi said that Neiriz Police and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps traced down the contraband jointly after they got tip-off about a Peugeot 405 carrying narcotics near the city.
The troops signed the vehicle to stop but it refused to do so and drove away without heed, he said, adding that the forces tracked it down.
Inspecting the car, police seized 245 kilograms of opium and five kilograms of Heroine, Goudarzi said.
Meanwhile, in another operation, police confiscated 488 kilograms of opium in a pick-up car and arrested the driver, the commander said.
In another development, anti-drug squad got a tip-off about individuals involved in producing and distribution of illicit drugs in Shiraz.
They spotted their hideouts when they confiscated 90 kilograms of Hashish in Pride sports utility car parked there. They arrested four drug traffickers during the operation.
