Attacks on Yemen Likely to Cease in Hours: Iran's Deputy FM
World  - Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed optimism about a halt to the Saudi-led aggression on Yemen in the coming hours.

Following all the efforts made so far, Iran is optimistic about the cessation of military attacks on Yemen in the coming hours, Amir Abdollahian said Tuesday at the beginning of a trilateral meeting between deputy foreign ministers of Iran, Switzerland, and Syria in Tehran.

"We are optimistic that we will see different Yemeni groups sit at the negotiating table in the coming hours and make efforts to strengthen the political process in the country," he added, according to an IRIB News Agency report.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to militarily interfere in Yemen's internal affairs by launching deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The offensive has killed hundreds of civilians in the impoverished country.

Tehran has frequently called for an end to the aggression, stressing that the Yemeni crisis can be settled only through political means.
