‘Russia seeking to curb fascist state’

‘Russia seeking to curb fascist state’
World  - Russia’s diplomatic efforts are in full swing to avoid the emergence of a fascist state allied to NATO, an analyst writes in a column for the Press TV website.

“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s actions have been mainly focused on preventing the rise of a hostile fascist state allied to NATO on his own borders,” Webster G. Tarpley wrote.

He said the US and NATO are wrongly accusing Russia of “waging an aggressive campaign against Ukraine”, adding that Moscow’s actions are of a “strategically defensive character.”

The analyst said Moscow “is merely trying to secure for itself an environment of reasonably benign neighbors.”

  • The main cause of the current conflict is the insistence by Washington and London on organizing a coup d’état in Russia’s largest and most strategically sensitive area,” wrote Tarpley.

He said the ongoing crisis in Ukraine stems from “a complex of US and NATO institutions” seeking to destabilize other states.

Tarpley said the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and US Agency for International Development are among institutions that mobilized forces in the “mob-rule destabilization of Ukraine in the fall of 2013 and the Kiev putsch of February 22, 2014.”

  • This US-NATO color revolution apparatus took the initiative in overthrowing [former Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovich, detonating a civil war in Ukraine,” wrote the analyst.

He said the US and NATO should be declared as “aggressors” responsible for “whatever tragic consequences may derive in the future.”

“At the present time, the most efficient means of deterring and containing the impulses of neocon and ‘humanitarian’ warmongers alike is that they be confronted by a powerful counterweight in the form of a resurgent Russia,” wrote Tarpley.
