Hezbollah rejects al-Arabia killing claim

Hezbollah rejects al-Arabia killing claim
World  - Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has denied allegations made by March 14th Bloc leaders and al-Arabiya news channel over the assassination of late Lebanese MP Gebran Tueni, Press TV reported.

In a statement published on Monday, the movement declared that "the stances taken by March 14th Bloc are based on fabricated documents and data which are no way close to the truth proving yet again that he who is addicted to cheating can only master forgery."

The statement noted that "the recent wave March 14th crew has taken, is that of the Saudi al-Arabiya channel which claims it has obtained documents from Syrian opposition members which orchestrate events and fabricate accusations that are in no way real; one of which is related to the assassination of late MP Gebran Tueni."

  • "It wasn't a surprise for those who have mastered the fabrication of false witnesses to refer to false documents betraying their own allies, the Qataris and the Turkish, who considered al-Arabiya's documents to be false and baseless, as well. It also raises the question whether an American message has been sent out calling on those people to agitate internal affairs," another part of the statement read.

Hezbollah also stated that the accusation is political and that the movement is waiting for a judiciary verdict in this regard.

Last week, al-Arabiya released documents claiming that Hezbollah had collaborated with the Syrian security forces in the assassination of Tueni.

Gebran Ghassan Tueni, an MP and a journalist, was assassinated in a car bomb on December 12, 2005 near Beirut, while he was driving from home to his newspaper's office.

After Tueni's death, several Lebanese politicians blamed Syria. However, Syrian authorities denied any involvement in the crime.
